James Ence, DDS
After serving an LDS mission in Japan in 1969 to 1971, Dr. Ence attended Southern Utah State College, and received a B.S. degree in Chemistry. After successful application to dental school, he attended the University of the Pacific.
He graduated in 1977 with honors, ranking fourth in his class. He received special awards from the fixed prosthetics department and the oral surgery department for his outstanding work in those areas. After graduating, he was employed by the University of the Pacific as an instructor in the crown and bridge department.
In addition to instructing at the dental school, Dr. Ence has been in private practice since 1977. His experience includes practicing in Las Vegas, Nevada as well as St. George, Utah. Dr. Ence has served on the hospital staff at Humana Sunrise Hospital in Las Vegas, Nevada as an emergency care dentist. Dr. Ence has been a member of the American Dental Association since 1977. He has served in leadership positions in both the Nevada Dental Association and the Utah Dental Association. He has also served as President of the Utah Dental Association.
Mark Ence, DDS
Dr. Mark Ence went to school locally at Dixie State and Souther Utah University. He then attended University of the Pacific's Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry while living in San Francisco, graduating in 2008.
Dr. Mark Ence was born in Las Vegas and grew up in Santa Clara, Utah, where he attended Snow Canyon High school and met his wife, Tami. They were married after Mark served a mission in Chile. They have 3 wonderful (and crazy) boys.
Mark has enjoyed helping patients restore their smiles to full health while working inthe office with his father. Dr. Mark Ence is a member of the American Dental Assocation and Utah Dental Association.
Jenny Rex, Office Manager
Jenny is a native to St George and went to Pine View High School and Dixie State University. She enjoys spending time with her family, especially traveling and camping with her husband of 10 years. Jenny has worked in dentistry since 2008 as an orthodontic assistant, dental assistant, and office manager.
Amanda Orton, Insurance Coordinator
Amanda is from Hurricane, graduated from Hurricane High School, and attended Dixie State College. Amanda has worked in dentistry since 2007 and started working for Dr. Ence in 2014. She has experience in the front office as well as the clinical side of dentistry. Amanda enjoys working for Dr. Ence and could not imagine a more positive working environment. She respects the knowledge and excellent skill of the doctors that enables them to provide the best dental care possible for their patients. The upbeat attitudes shown from the team makes each work day a great day!
Amanda enjoys getting to know each patient and their concerns. She loves running, working out and is currently working on becoming a certified personal trainer. Amanda also enjoys camping, fishing and 4-wheeling. She just celebrated her 8th year of marriage to her best friend, Kristopher. No children, though they have 3 dogs who keep them entertained.
Jennifer Sargent, Hygienist
Jennifer grew up in Southern California and started working as a dental assistant for her Dad at the age of 14. This experience helped her decide that she wanted to become a dental hygienist! She went to BYU and graduated from Weber State Dental Hygiene School and has worked ever since . She is married with 4 kids and she currently has 3 grandkids (so far!) She loves anything outside, running, hiking, kayaking, golf and fishing! Pretty much give Jennifer a lake, river and a mountain and she'll be Happy!
Kathy Hentosh, Lead Hygienist
Kathy graduated from Youngstown State University in Youngstown, Ohio, in 1981 with a degree in dental hygiene. She has been a hygienist at Ence Dentistry since 1997 and enjoys helping people keep their teeth and gums healthy.
Kathy is married to Rich Hentosh and they have one daughter. Kathy and Rich enjoy camping, hiking and any activity that involves spending time with family. Kathy is active in her church, singing in the choir and playing handbells.
Amy Ence, Hygienist
Amy graduated from Dixie State University with a Dental Hygiene degree in 2000. She spent years prior working as dental assistant and completing undergraduate work at Brigham Young University. Amy also attended BYU on a dance and academic scholarship, dancing with BYU Theatre Ballet company. Amy has worked at Ence Dentistry since 2003, helping to promote good health by keeping teeth and gums their cleanest!
She is married to Matt Ence and they have five children. Amy and Matt enjoy listening to their children perform their musical talents in piano and violin, watching soccer games, dance performances, and school programs. She also enjoys running and has accomplished half marathons. Amy also enjoys working with students in ballet technique and taking classes herself.
Angela Ayala, Hygienist
Angela began assisting her dad, Dr. Jim Ence, at age 15, up until the time she went to dental hygiene school at Dixie State University, graduating in 2007. Angela married Alan Ayala and has 2 young children, Ethan and Ellie.
Angela moved to Ann Arbor, Michigan, while her husband attended law school. In 2014, she and her family moved back home to St. George in 2014. She loves spending time with her family and friends. She loves going to the lake, swimming, sports, and loves to watch my kids grow and develop.
Payton Hurst, Hygienist
Ashley Conover, Hygienist
Ashley graduated from Dixie State University with an Associate of Applied Science in May 2002. She has worked with her dad, Dr. Jim Ence, for over 14 years.
Ashley has been married to Matt Conover for over 11 years and they have 3 kids. She loves being a mom and enjoys biking, going to Lake Powell and Joe's Valley with her family. She enjoys being around her family, friends, and kids, and she is always up for an adventure.
Bonnie Potter, Lead Assistant
Bonnie is the Lead Dental Assistant at Ence Dentistry, overseeing clinical operations and serving her team. She is married and has 5 children and 8 grandchildren. Bonnie graduated from Dixie State University longer than she cares to mention. She has been in the dental field for over 35 years!
