What the video covers

  1. Here's what to expect when you have a tooth removed.
  2. Sometimes severe decay, a deep crack, or advanced gum disease leaves a tooth beyond repair.
  3. First, we'll numb the area completely, so you stay comfortable. You may feel some pressure, but you shouldn't feel any pain.
  4. Then the tooth is carefully loosened and gently lifted out of its socket.
  5. Afterward, a blood clot forms in the socket to protect it while it heals. Biting gently on gauze helps it form.
  6. For the first few days, be gentle with the area. Skip straws, don't smoke, and stick to soft foods.
  7. Once you've healed, it's important not to leave a gap. An empty space can let nearby teeth shift, change your bite, and lead to bone loss over time. There are three great ways to replace the tooth.
  8. A dental implant uses a titanium post to replace the root, and a crown to replace the tooth. It's the closest thing to a natural tooth.
  9. A bridge holds a false tooth in place with crowns on the teeth on either side.
  10. And a partial denture is a removable option that clips onto your natural teeth.
  11. Ask us which option is right for you, so your smile stays strong and complete.
